Announcing the Home-Based Services (HBS) Supportive Environments awardee to lead a new King County HBS Advisory Group

To build a Home-Based Services (HBS) system that continues to meet the needs of families, caregivers, and providers, Best Starts is seeking to identify and change the larger systems and environmental conditions that impact the delivery of HBS.

Through our HBS Supportive Environments Request for Applications, we are excited to announce Cardea Services in partnership with Start Early WA as the coordinators of a new King County HBS Advisory Group.

The HBS Advisory Group will include families, community-based organizations, and King County Systems partners. The goal is to co-develop an environment in which HBS can thrive. This will include gathering input and feedback to equitably inform decisions on:

  • Best Starts HBS strategy
  • Improving service coordination among HBS providers
  • Coordinated system development
  • Specific model considerations
  • Integration of racial justice, equity, and cultural competency strategies
  • Emergent community priorities

The HBS Advisory Group will convene beginning in spring 2025 through the end of 2027. Community members will be compensated for their time.

Join the HBS Advisory Group!

If you have connection to the HBS community in King County and you’re interested in joining the HBS Advisory Group, please email Alex Patricelli at apatricelli@startearly.org.

Background

Home-Based Services (HBS) are a type of relationship-based support provided to expecting parents and caregivers of children from birth to age 5. HBS are intended to provide resources and supports that contribute to improved parent-child health, increased parenting knowledge and confidence, reduced parent stress, strengthened parent-child attachment, and positive child development.
